Qualifying for Ranked
Ranked mode is the real deal in terms of competitive play. Since we want you to have enough experience and skills to climb the ranked ladder, you can only access Ranked mode upon reaching Account Level 3.
Finding A Ranked Match
Playing Ranked can be a big choice for some, which is why you have to deliberately jump into the matchmaker to participate.
Built-In Rematches
Each Ranked encounter includes at least one match, but you can rematch up to twice more in a best-of-three if you're looking to counterpick champions between matches and try new strats. Provided both parties want to fight again, of course!
Ranked Tiers
Like our other games, there's a hierarchy of Ranks for you to climb on your way to the top:
Each Rank is divided into three different tiers. For example:
- Iron
- Iron l
- Iron ll
- Iron lll
- Bronze
- Bronze l
- Bronze ll
- Bronze lll
- Etc.
The only exception is Grandmaster, which has no tiers. Instead, the top 500 players are promoted to Challenger.
RP (Ranked Points)
Win in a Ranked match, and you'll earn some RP, which you'll need to climb through each rank.
Each tier requires 100 RP for you to climb to the next tier. If you're in Tier III, then reaching 100 RP will knock you up to Tier I of the next rank. For example: If you are Gold III with 93 RP and gain 10 RP, you'll jump up to Platinum I with 3 RP.
Placements
You have to play through 5 placement matches before earning an actual rank. To ensure a fair start, you only face players who are also going through their own placement matches. In addition, you're only able to play in Duo if your teammate is also playing their placements.
Leaving a placement match will be considered a loss, so never give up!
Promotion and Demotion
Getting enough RP for the next rank/tier will immediately place you in that tier, plus whatever extra RP you have left.
If you lost enough RP to drop below 0, you'll instead initially be dropped to 0 at your current tier, giving you one last chance to step back up before demoting.
For example, if you are Silver II with 8 RP and lose 10 RP, you'll be left at Silver II with 0 RP instead of being demoted. If you go on to lose another match after that and lose 10 more RP, you'll drop to Silver I with 90 RP.
While you can drop to a lower tier, you can't be demoted to lower ranks. For example, if you are in Gold III with 0 RP, you'll remain there even if you lose multiple games in a row.
Forgiveness Matches
You start the season with two forgiveness matches for each of your obtained champions, plus another forgiveness match for each 30 days you go without playing that champion (up to a max of 6 per champion). If you're defeated in a forgiveness match, you lose less RP than you normally would; however, the protection decreases the more matches you play with that champion.
Forgiveness matches are reset at the end of the season, so use ’em or lose ’em.
Seasons
You have until the end of the season to hone your skills and climb the ranked ladder for exclusive ranked rewards. Stay tuned for more updates as the game progresses.
Ranked progress will be reset once the season ends.
Duo Ranked
2XKO is all about teaming up, so we've made it as easy as possible to queue up with a friend.
You can duo with friends of any rank all the way through Grandmaster. Granted, this will likely result in more challenging battles, so come prepared. You may also receive less RP, so one high-ranked friend can't boost the other. Earn your spot at the top!
