Troubleshooting Game Crashes (2XKO)

Like characters that never stop leveling up, our games are always getting fresh content, shiny visual upgrades, and a sprinkle of special effects magic. And naturally, they love showing off whatever the latest graphics cards and operating systems can handle.

Because of this, you may experience symptoms described below if you software is not up to date:

  • The game crashes to desktop
  • The game closes, resulting in a crash report
  • The screen is black when the game is launched
  • The game freezes completely without crashing to desktop

If none of the troubleshooting steps below helped out, no worries! Head to the bottom of this page and Submit a Ticket to our Player Support team!

Ensure your Windows (and DirectX) is updated

Windows updates often address issues within the Operating System and DirectX, which may lead to application crashes. You can find the relevant instructions from Microsoft here:

Please keep in mind that the highest version of DirectX that you can get depends on your version of Windows, as described in the above Microsoft article.

Perform Clean Boot

  1. Press Windows Key + R
  2. Type msconfig into the text bar
  3. Click on System Configuration
  4. Once open, click on the Services tab
  5. ⚠️ Important: Check "Hide all Microsoft services"
  6. Click the "Disable All" button
  7. Find and re-check vgc in the list
  8. Restart your computer

Reset Graphic Cards Software

NVIDIA comes with the NVIDIA Control Panel and AMD comes with the Adrenalin Edition Application. Both of these programs allow users to set up graphics profiles that can override application settings and sometimes interfere with our games as a result. Resetting the software to default values usually gives control of graphics back to the applications. Here's how to do it:

NVIDIA Control Panel

  1. Right-click on your desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel
  2. Select Manage 3D Settings
  3. Click on Restore Defaults

Adrenaline Edition Application

  1. Open Adrenaline Edition Application
  2. In the search bar, search 'Factory Reset'
  3. Select Factory Reset - System Settings

Adjusting video settings

Minimizing the video options will reduce the amount of effects on screen and could help you avoid crashing. Playing around with these settings will help you find a sweet spot between performance and quality. As a starting point, try setting each option to its lowest value.

You can access this in game by pressing Esc and going to the Video tab.

Uninstall 2XKO

If all else fails, a clean reinstallation can help out with making sure all your files are working as intended, and there's no pesky hidden corrupted files causing a ruckus.
