How to Fix "request too large" Error

We are aware that some players may encounter an issue logging into Riot Website. If your attempt to log in is met by an error "Request too large" try the workaround below.

Clear Cookies and Cache

The quickest way to get to the right place is to use a keyboard shortcut:
  • On Windows: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete
  • On Mac: Press Command + Shift + Delete
This shortcut should immediately open a pop-up window to clear browsing data. If the shortcut doesn't work, you'll need to find it manually:
  1. Find the browser's main menu, which is usually in the top-right corner of the window. Look for an icon with three dots (⋮), three horizontal lines (≡), or a gear icon (⚙️).
  2. In that menu, click on Settings. (It might also be called Options or Internet Options).
  3. Inside the Settings menu, look for a section named "Privacy & Security," "History," or "Advanced."
  4. Find the option that says "Clear browsing data," "Clear history," or "Clear cache."
  5. You'll be asked for a time range. For a complete cleaning, select "All time" or "Everything."
  6. You will see a list of data types you can delete. To clear your cache and cookies, make sure you check the boxes for:
    • Cookies and other site data (This will log you out of most websites).
    • Cached images and files (This is the cache).
  7. You can typically uncheck other options like "Browsing history" or "Download history" if you want to keep them.
  8. Click the final button, which will be labeled "Clear data," "Clear now," or "Delete."

Sign in using Incognito Mode

    • Chrome / Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N (or Cmd + Shift + N on a Mac)
    • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P (or Cmd + Shift + P on a Mac)
    • Safari: Cmd + Shift + N
  2. Log in as usual A new, separate window will appear. In this private window, navigate to the website and log in with your username and password as you normally would.
