If you see the error message "VAN: Incompatible OEM Driver" or "Incompatible OEM driver detected", it means one of your storage drivers is not compatible with Vanguard’s DMA Remapping (DMAr) requirements.
Vanguard uses DMA Remapping to isolate PCIe devices and prevent DMA-based cheats. If a driver does not support DMAr, Vanguard cannot guarantee system integrity and will block the game until the proper driver is installed.
Some storage drivers - especially third-party NVMe or SATA AHCI controller drivers - do not support DMAr, even if they function normally otherwise. To keep your system secure, Vanguard requires the official Microsoft storage drivers, which fully support DMAr.
What Storage Drivers Need to be Replaced?
If you see any of these listed under your storage controller, they are not supported:
| Driver File | Device Type |
| secnvme.sys | NVMe |
| solidnvm.sys | NVMe |
| asstahci64.sys | SATA AHCI |
Replace them with one of the following official Microsoft drivers:
| Device Type | Correct Microsoft Driver Name |
| NVMe | NVM Express Controller |
| SATA | Standard SATA AHCI Controller |
If your Provider field in Device Manager shows Microsoft Corporation, you are compliant.
How to Check Your Storage Driver

- If the driver is listed in the unsupported list above, follow the steps below
How to Replace an Unsupported Storage Driver
- In the device’s Properties window, go back to the Driver tab
- Select Update Driver
- Click Browse my computer for drivers
- Click Let me pick from a list of available drivers
- Select one of the following:
- NVM Express Controller (for NVMe drives)
- Standard SATA AHCI Controller (for SATA drives)
- Or any driver where the Provider is Microsoft Corporation
- Click Next to install it
- Restart your PC
After rebooting, Vanguard should recognize the DMAr-compatible driver and allow you to launch the game normally.
